What’s the Latest Development?

Randi Zuckerberg, director of marketing at Facebook and sister of C.E.O. and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, is leaving the company after six years to start a social media consulting firm. Called RtoZ, Ms. Zuckerberg’s new venture will advise companies about becoming more social and orienting their business through social networks like Facebook. “I have spent my years at Facebook…pushing the media industry forward by introducing new concepts around live, social, participatory viewing that the media industry has since adopted,” she said.

What’s the Big Idea?

Ms. Zuckerberg was nominated for an Emmy award for her work on “Facebook Live,” a real-time news program she created and hosted for the company. “Now is the perfect time for me to move outside of Facebook to build a company focused on the exciting trends underway in the media industry,” she said. So what is the future of Facebook without the co-founder’s sister? At some level, the company must concern itself with creating products for business, giving companies ways to increase their visibility on Facebook and across the Web.
