Philippe Cayla, chairman and CEO of Euronews, stopped by the Big Think offices today for an interview. Euronews covers world news from a European perspective, and is the most widely distributed news channel in Europe, above CNN and BBC. What’s it like tailoring coverage to such a vast range of viewers, many of whom are from different countries and have competing interests? Cayla used the example of Euronews’ coverage of the Greek bailout, describing how their coverage took both the Greek and German sides into account. We also chatted with Cayla about the future of broadcast news, and whether U.S. news coverage of the BP oil spill has been up to par.
