New York Times journalist Andrew Sorkin discusses his take on the Wall Street crash, whether financial CEOs are evil, the future of journalism and how business is likely to change in the future. Sorkin speaks with Spiegel about his book on the crash, for which he interviewed many powerful banking and finance CEOs. The author answers criticisms that he cut deals with his subjects to make their story sweeter in exchange for access. He also defends the New York Times as an institution so necessary and so supported by the public that, despite its debt, it will continue long into the future. “This is one institution that actually has a much brighter future than people give us credit for because our readers want us to live,” Sorkin says.
