Where to watch the SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch today

Today’s the big day for Elon Musk and SpaceX! The Falcon Heavy launch is scheduled to take place sometime between 1:30 PM and 4:30 PM EST from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

UPDATE, 12:21 PM: The launch has been delayed by half an hour:

T-0 delayed to 2:20 p.m. EST, 19:20 UTC due to upper level wind shear. Continuing to monitor winds and will update as info becomes available.

Recently touted as the “biggest rocket in the world” by Musk during a CNN interview, the Falcon Heavy will launch with the thrust of 18 Boeing 747s. The goal is to send its payload (including Musk’s own Tesla Roadster blasting “Space Oddity” by David Bowie) into Mars’ orbit, where it will remain until… we decide to pick it up? Perhaps Musk is thinking the first Martian colonists will need a nice ride to get around the metallic red dunes of the fourth planet in the solar system.

Hotel rooms all around the Kennedy Space Center are sold out, and it’s difficult to argue that public interest in this rocket launch is the highest its been for similar events in quite some time.
