John Wesley on Bigotry

"Think not the bigotry of another is any excuse for your own." -John Wesley, English preacher and co-founder of the Methodist movement

John Wesley (1703-1791) was an English preacher, theologian, and the co-founder of the Methodist movement. Quite popular during his day, Wesley’s signature style was to preach outdoors (often in a field) while denouncing Calvinism and encouraging laymen to take roles in spreading the liturgy. Later in life, Wesley was an ardent abolitionist and one of England’s most beloved social figures.
