The two parties are already so close together, Mo Rocca says, that a third party won’t make much of a difference.
Question: Are two parties enough?
Mo Rocca: Yeah I think they’re enough. I mean I’m not convinced that if there were a third party that it would offer a radically different alternative. It might come right . . . It might . . . It might . . . A third party might actually come down in the middle, and you know the two parties are so close already. You’re just . . . Look. A presidential candidate is trying to . . . A presidential candidate is trying to capture a majority, so you know it’s always gonna move towards the center. If there were 10 parties on the national ticket – and there are, I guess . . . But if there were 10 viable parties, they’d all be so close together.
