I am going to brag about a couple of our School Technology Leadership alumni in this post.

The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) recently unveiled its free Value of Investment (VOI) tool, which allows school leaders “to better articulate the costs and benefits of proposed technology projects.” In the eSchoolNews article about the new tool, Keith Krueger, the Executive Director of CoSN, said that the VOI initiative is one of the most important things that CoSN has ever done. Dr. Bob Gulick, who is a database administrator and technology trainer for the Parma City (OH) School District, was a member of our first-ever School Technology Leadership cohort. Bob helped CoSN design and create the VOI tool. Awesome work, Bob!

Leslie Yoder, who is a Technology Integration Specialist for the St. Paul (MN) Public Schools, was a member of our second cohort. This past summer she worked with Jane Prestebak, Director of Media Services and Instructional Technology for the Robbinsdale (MN) Area Schools, to create the Research Project Calculator for students. The Calculator is designed to give students guided assistance and benchmark deadlines as they work to create a research product (essay, PowerPoint, or video). The Calculator is divided into five steps – Question, Gather, Conclude, Communication, and Evaluate – and gives detailed instructions for each step. Kudos to you, Leslie and Jane!
