Hollywood’s Dilemma

Big Think interviewed producer and film scholar Jonathan Taplin to discuss the current state of Hollywood. As much as we get caught up in the glitz and glamour, it’s easy to forget that Hollywood is an industry; instead of selling used cars, it sells used ideas. And the magic pixie dust that brings those second-hand ideas to life is money. Taplin takes us through the blockbuster budgets and crowded markets that reveal the film industry’s not so glamorous side.
