A gifted student who publicly confronted Iran’s Supreme Leader has reportedly gone missing and an internet campaign has been launched to publicise his disappearance.

“Top Iranian student Mahmoud Vahidnia confronted Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei at a public meeting with students. The Supreme Leader was so distraught by the confrontation that he skipped prayers and left the meeting early. The event was being broadcast by Iranian state-run TV. That made the authorities stop airing the programme,” reports First Things. But apparently Vahidnia disappeared following the confrontation and an internet campaign has been launched via web news aggregators including Reddit and Digg to raise awareness around the world of his disappearance and put pressure on his captors (if he is in captivity) to free him.
