“Five different authorities were involved on both sides of the Atlantic after a boy, 16, told his friend of his plans to kill himself,” writes The Telegraph. The teenager from Oxford posted a message on Facebook which said: “I’m going away to do something I’ve been thinking about for a while then everybody will find out.” But an American friend of his saw the post and told her mother who alerted police in Maryland, USA. They contacted the White House Special Agent, who told the British Embassy, which contacted the British police. The police narrowed the boy’s address down to six houses and found him slumped on the floor having taken an overdose. He was taken to hospital and is expected to recover.
