Batten down the hatches, people who work in tech support from Bangalore to Bangor. Google’s tribute for today celebrates the invention of the bar code.

Replacing those playground-friendly letters with the word “Google” in black, geeky barcodese will surely make a lot of people reset their watches, unplug their toasters and call help lines to ask what is wrong with the computer.


I’m a little surprised, because I thought Google’s target demographic was the entire human race. Today’s graphic tells Grandpa that the Google’s not for him.
