Why open access makes sense

Why open access makes no sense (with a satirical slant).

On Monday Robin Osborne published a bizarre article in the Guardian: Why open access makes no sense. I’ve translated the commentary into a common sense reading with a satirical slant.

Click here for a high-def image.

There are plenty of comments under the article addressing the many bizarre claims, I recommend Mark Taylor’s comment which cites a summary of research investigating the article’s main claim that open access research doesn’t get cited by researchers. 27 of the studies reported found a citation advantage of publishing with open access, while only four did not.
