Mars One Group Selects Members for Next Human Civilization

The not-for-profit organization Mars One, which hopes to colonize Mars by 2025, has winnowed down its list of potential colonists from over 200,000 applicants to 1,058 hopefuls who will receive a one-way ticket to Mars. 


According to Norbert Kraft, M.D., Chief Medical Officer of Mars One, “the next several selection phases in 2014 and 2015 will include rigorous simulations, many in team settings, with [a] focus on testing the physical and emotional capabilities of our remaining candidates. We expect to begin understanding what is motivating our candidates to take this giant leap for humankind.”
