How We Underestimate Ourselves
I think people are unbelievably unrealistic about their expectations. I think they completely under-estimate what they’re capable of. That’s where they’re being unrealistic.
Tony Robbins says, “most people over-estimate what they can do in a year and under estimate what they can do in a lifetime.” And I think that’s completely right. Most people have unrealistic expectations. They believe that they have to make do. They believe that “this is the best I’m ever going to do” and so that’s what they choose. Henry Ford said, “if you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” And he’s entirely right. I think people under-estimate what they’re capable of.
