NASA’s Juno spacecraft flew past Earth on Oct. 9, 2013 with the goal of increasing the spacecraft’s velocity so it oculd reach its target of Jupiter on July 4, 2016.
One of Juno’s sensors, a camera optimized to track faint stars, was active during the flyby, and captured a unique view of the Earth-moon system. The result is the video below, what NASA describes as “a glimpse of what our world would look like to a visitor from afar.”
