How can physicists tackle the problem of achieving faster-than-light travel? Marc Millis, the former head of NASA’s Breakthrough Propulsion Physics Project, explores this question in the video below from Space.com, and also provides an elegant answer to the question of why.
Not only would finding a shortcut through space-time enable us to go places where we have never been and possibly protect ourselves against ‘Doomsday asteroids,’ Millis argues that even if it’s impossible, “it’s worth working on, because of what you learn in the process.”
