My Advice to My Younger Self
If I could go back and talk to my younger self about what makes a successful career I think that I would have told myself in the beginning that I should make a list of what I’m good at and what I love to do and just go straight to that.
I got out of college right at the wrong time when the economy was going down, the oil business was going down. And it wasn’t easy to find a job. It’s a lot like today, with lots of kids getting out of college and there are just not a lot of jobs.
I think that if I could have just talked to myself I would have put my arm around myself and said, “Hey, little buddy, it’s gonna be okay.” I’d give myself a little pat on the back, and say, “don’t worry.” “Let me tell you, it’s all going to work out. You’re gonna come up with a Vodka company, it’s going to be this hair-brained scheme, but it’s all going to work out. Thanks self, that’s great.”
