Previously was the IT Chief at the Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Program at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, and before that various agencies to include the DoD and Institute for Defense Analyses. Led the technology aspects of the bioterrorism program's response to 9/11, anthrax in 2001, West Nile, SARS, monkeypox in 2003, ricin, and other emergencies. I've spent the last two years finishing a PhD that looks at "bottom-up" (i.e., grassroots) approaches to knowledge sharing and exchanges, specifically knowledge ecosystems and distributed problem-solving networks. Still connected with CDC as a strategic advisor for their "BioPHusion" effort, which focuses on early warning and knowledge exchanges associated with avian influenza as well as other public health concerns. Also engaged with the U.S. Department of Energy in a similar strategic advisor capacity, specifically regarding application of a knowledge ecosystem concept to Energy and Environmental Security concerns.
