The problems in the south continue, as the government decided to storm the offices of al-Ayyam, which have been under siege for the past several days. The AFP is reporting that one individual was killed in the clashes, which were launched to arrest al-Ayyam’s editor, Hisham Basharahil. Mareb Press is reporting that two guards were killed in the clashes. I have been told that the security forces backed off after the deaths. Al-Ayyam meanwhile has not published an issue since May 4.

The government has also suspended publication of another newspaper, al-Midan, according to al-Sahwa.

And, of course, as Christopher pointed out in the comments, al-Wahayshi has released another audio tape, entitled “To Our People in the South.”
