What Are They Building in There? Google’s Secret Project

Nobody knows for sure what is inside two floating barges, owing to some extraordinary secrecy measures that have been taken.

The image above is from a 2009 patent filing by Google, depicting a floating data center. This has led many to speculate that two barges – one in San Francisco and another off the coast of Maine – are the realizations of Google’s project.


However, nobody knows for sure, owing to some extraordinary secrecy measures that have been taken. 

A rival theory suggests that the barges are floating marketing centers for Google Glass.
