Measuring a "good life" in terms of productivity and making a contribution is another way of saying that you have used your innate talents and acquired skills in such a way that you are satisfied with the results. It doesn't necessarily follow that they have been used altogether altruistically, but unless your talents and skills sets are dark ones, it's likely that their use has positively affected others as well as pleasing yourself.
