no animals on July 26, 2009, 10:38 AM

there is no scientific evidence that humans need to eat animals to survive. there is enough protien, vitamins, minerals and carbs from plant based diets.

if you are religious, there is a line in the Bible that talks about fruits and says, “for you, this will be your meat” something to that effect.

so why do we eat it? there are sevearl reasons;

  • traditions
  • marketing
  • copycat

thats it. there is big money in the meat industry. It is controled by huge coprorations that want you to beleive that its good for you, you need it and they make all efforts to stop you from seeing the truth. McDonalds would never advertise that most of the animals that are slaughterd, are still alive as they are being “processed”. They now kill some 400 animals per hour in ONE factory farm. They are not about to stop the line because an animal or animals dident get killed properly the first time.

The meat industry causes more Co2 Emmiissions than the entire Transportation industry on the planet. More than all of the cars, trucks, planes trains etc running.

We are far better off to simply stop eating meat than we are to buy a hybrid car for instance.

Here are some more interesting facts:

  • we loose 150 acres of rainforests every minute of every day due to factory farming, mining, oil exploration and logging.
  • to give you an idea, that is the area or England, Scottland and Whales combined each year
  • 2/3rds of the worlds rainforests are already gone.
  • it is estimated that the rest will be gone in only 50 years.
  • yet rainforests are like the liver of the earth, filtering out all the toxins and pollution that we pump into it every day. without this filter, the situtation becomes worst even faster – like a sliding scale.
  • 90% of the world polulation of edible fish is already gone.
  • todays fishing boats are no longer just boats, they are super ships, 3-400ft long that can stay at sea for months, dragging nets that span 60klms. they take enough fish each catch to fill 10 jumbo jets – thats just ONE ship.
  • AND ITS ALL NOT NESSESARY!
  • if you are worried about protien – this is a myth. Bill Pearl, a professional bodybuilder that won all the major titles in the 70s knew about this back then. He pushed his body to the limits all on a plant based diet — he ate eggs and milk, but no fish, no meat. If its good enough for a pro bodybuilder, the rest of us dont need animal protien.

did we talk about the water mis-use or land mis-use?

Ghandi said, “There is enough for every mans need, but not enough for everymans greed”

try going without animal “food” for 30 days. Living, eating without the guilt, without knowing that some animal had to die a horrific death for us to eat it, its completely liberating, good for you and the world. I have been off it for 5 years now and have not starved. I gaurantee you wont either.
