I'm interested in different kinds of poetry and recently I found a couple of poems that I'd like to share:
Still will I strieve to be
As if thou wert with me;
Whatever path I take,
It shall be for thy sake.
Henry David Thoreau
Line in nature is not found;
Unit and universe are round.
In vain produced, all rays return;
Evil will bless and ice will burn.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Haha, favorite poem. That is perhaps a harder question for me to answer than who I am or what I believe in. I cannot point to a poem and call it my favorite. I don’t think you can really rank poetry. I think you can find poems that are good or average and then there are poems that are great. A great poem is one that you can read or recite and discover new things about it almost every time. A great poem is one that has meaning that goes further than the words on the page. A great poem makes you feel how the author wants you to feel. If you want to read great poems, read the masters. You’ll soon become acquainted with what makes a great poem. It is then that you’ll find it in many places. Read Yeats, Keats, Auden, Hardy, Dickinson, Poe, Whitman, Wilde, Angelou, Hughes, Thomas, Tennyson, Shakespeare, Eliot, and Cummings. The list goes on forever. Challenge yourself, find a random poem you’ve never heard of. Read it. Think about it. If you want a poem on a specific subject I can help. Otherwise, my mind is wracked and I cannot even begin to compare the poems I’ve read.
