According to a meta-analysis published in the journal Personality and Social Psychology Review, there is a "reliable negative relation between intelligence and religiosity" in 53 out of 63 studies.

According to the article, by Miron Zuckerman of the University of Rochester, people with high IQs don't just tend to be skeptical of religion because they "know better." Rather, intelligent people tend to be more successful in their professional and personal lives, and therefore, "need religion less."
