Should organic food be 'mass produced?'
Could all farms be organic? I think it's possible if we wasted less food and devoted less land to raising inefficient land-hungry animals. But it is quite another question whether organic food (or food) should be mass produced? Bulk food production far from population centers carries its own problems of transport/packaging. While there are clearly economies of scale sustainable organic food production may ultimately be better served by smaller, more varied local farms. We'd have to change our shopping habits - buy only what we needed - accept shorter shelf life - use foods that are 'in season'.
