Satan as Prometheus
The story of Satan rebelling and "betraying" God seems to be religious propaganda. If I believed in the supernatural, then I most assuredly would be convinced that Satan became disillusioned with the tyranny with which God controlled Man. The Serpent can be seen as Man's savior. He freed man from an existance as unknowing cattle. Just as Zeus punished Prometheus by chaining him to a rock and having his liver be eaten out by birds every day, Satan's place of banishment has an upside: although it is, hah, a hellish place, he at least has a base of operations from which to try again. With his army of informed skeptics, will Satan/Prometheus someday overthrow God?
Political activism may get people invested in politics, and affect urgently needed change, but it comes at the expense of tolerance and healthy democratic norms.
