God is omniscient. We also have free will.
The choice you offered as far as a crossroad scenario works fine within these boundaries. God does know which way we will go. He also knows what circumstances have led us to that choice and what path we will follow. He knows what awaits us down that path lets us go so we can learn from our mistakes.
The idea of Agency or free will is for us to learn and grow. God does not give us bad things. He gives us choice. We can control our choices, but not always the consequences following.
What your were describing was fate. That does not exist.
