Steve Jobs’ 7 Principles of Innovation

Author Carmine Gallo has studied Steves Jobs' success and wants us to ask how can we learn to unleash our inner Steve Jobs to advance our business, our careers, and the world.

What’s the Latest Development?

How did Steve Jobs successfully revolutionize the industries of computing, telecommunications, music and movies? Author Carmine Gallo’s travelling lecture “Steve Jobs’ 7 Principles of Innovation” aims to gives us all some insight into what is broadly considered Jobs’ genius. The first of Jobs’ principles, according to Gallo is: Do what you love. “Steve Jobs taught us that you cannot come up with new, innovative and exciting products unless you’re inspired yourself and passionate about moving society forward.”

What’s the Big Idea?

Jobs’ second principle according to Gallo is: Put a dent in the universe. The third: Connect things to spark creativity. “Steve Jobs once said creativity is connecting things.  He meant that people with a broad set of life experiences can often see things that others miss.  Jobs often connects ideas from other fields. For example, he studied calligraphy in college.” The fourth: Say no to 1,000 things. “Steve Jobs is proud of what Apple does but he’s also proud of what Apple has chosen not to do. He once said innovation is saying no to 1,000 things.”
