Bill Roggio of Long War Journal, whose reporting on Yemen I am beginning to question more and more, is following the Yemen Observer in reporting that the deputy commander of AQAP and former Guantanamo Bay detainee, Said Ali al-Shihri, has been captured.

Not so fast says the Observer, which has published a correction, saying it was not Said al-Shihri but rather Yusif al-Shihri that it captured.

The only problem with this correction is that – wait for it – Yusif al-Shihri is dead. I wrote about his death in October in Saudi Arabia both here at Waq al-waq (and here) and in the most recent issue of the CTC Sentinel.
