Bret Easton Ellis on iPads and Gratuitous Violence

“American Psycho” novelist Bret Easton Ellis stopped by the Big Think offices today to chat about his new book, “Imperial Bedrooms,” and the future of fiction writing. Ellis talked about the “emotional” places where he gets his inspiration from, how he outlines a new book, and the place of graphic (some might say “gratuitous”) violence in his fiction. He also described how his work as a screenwriter has influenced his fiction writing, and responded to a few questions about the future of publishing, expressing enthusiasm that at the idea that written fiction will ultimately include graphical and video elements in tablet computer editions.
