Replacing gasoline/petrol stations with hydrogen fuel stations would again put us at the mercy of what is known in System Dynamics as path dependence.  Since electrical outlets are already ubiquitous, the electric vehicles don't have that defect.  The fixed cost of adding electrical outlets at motel/hotel/restaurant/office parking lots is trivial compared to the cost of creating a nationwide system of hydrogen fuel stations. Hydrogen fuel cells are good as long as they are not used in a way that traps us again in a path dependent state.
