William Meyer commented on Paul Krugman on Crisis Causality on October 7, 2008, 5:08 PM

I think that we may be able to avoid an economic crisis if we as a nation act now. We need to stop being dependent on foreign oil and on Chinese money, have business reform, figure out the banks, and create millions of jobs converting our country to sustainable and clean energy. If these are not seriously addressed very soon there will most certainly be a crisis worse than the 1920's. As an American I have to say that I am disappointed that we let ourselves get this far. It's honestly quite embarrassing.

William Meyer commented on Christine Todd Whitman on Climate Change on October 7, 2008, 5:00 PM

The notion that we humans are not causing climate change is ridiculous. The earth goes through natural variations in our orbit around the sun. Sometimes the path is more circular and other times is it more elliptical. These shifts occur over very long time periods and coincide with natural warming and cooling periods. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE COOLING DOWN. So we are clearly having an effect. Not only that, the amount of carbon and other emissions currently in the atmosphere are much, much, much higher than before the industrial revolution. We put them there. This is not rocket science. Secondly, to think that we cannot do anything to combat climate change but only mitigate damages is not only incorrect but rather cowardly. It's like giving up after round one. How did this lady get to be working for the White House? This is especially concerning given the subject nature as well.

William Meyer commented on How should the Bible be interpreted? on January 16, 2008, 4:15 PM

i do believe in the message of the bible with regard to the environment. i think it is our duty (the human species) to start taking care of the earth in a more responsible way. however i have to say that the bible should not be interpreted literally...if that were the case imagine where we would actually be right now...
