Former Guantanamo detainee dead in Sa’dah

Al-Hayat is reporting that two al-Qaeda members have been killed in Sa’dah. This is a new and confusing twist to an ongoing story. Both men are Saudis and on the list of 85 that Saudi released earlier this year and, in an interesting twist, one is a former Guantanamo detainee. Mareb Press follows suit with this piece – but adds nothing new.

The paper is only reporting the identity of one individual for sure, Fahd Salih Sulayman al-Jatili. (al-Jatili is #62 on the list.) The other individual has so far yet to be identified for certain.

Despite what is being reported it is unclear, at least to me, who killed the two men and what they were even doing in Sa’dah in the first place. At the moment there are more questions than answers.

But Waq al-waq is doing some digging and shaking some sources and I hope to have answers soon.
