Vinton E Heuck commented on How should the Bible be interpreted? on August 12, 2008, 8:16 PM

Isn't it incedible that one can read such a willfully ignorant and dangerous credo in our time? Little wonder that we stand on such dangerous ground. Between Cizik and all of his fellow religionists, be they in in Kansas, Waziristan or Sumatra, none of us have much of a chance. How sad, especially for the children.

What has Islamic Fundamentalism got to do with the Palestinian cause? Who frames these questions and who selects the certified "Deep Thought Thinkers"?Asking, of all people, the Israeli ambassador is akin to asking a Protestant British guard at a prison for IRA fighters what he thinks about Liberation Catholicism.I would have thought that Bigthink would have selected editors that didn't have obvious agendas.

Vinton E Heuck commented on Paul Krugman's Big Question on August 12, 2008, 7:39 PM

We are, always have been, and will always be inherently selfish and shortsighted. The difference now is that we are in the midst of what may be the ultimate crisis. We should be dealing with climate change as if we were under threat from a mortal enemy; we should be on a total war-time footing. Our limited imagination coupled with our love for comforts and immediate security trumps our dedication to future generationsOur grandchildren probably won't hate us because they will be too busy scratching to survive to have much time to think about the generation that let them down.
