I do marketing and marketing strategy, I am particularly interested in the customer interface where the product or service is delivered. This is the customer experience and the key event.
I view marketing as the the whole business as seen through the eyes of the customer, so as a marketer I see myself as a business strategist engineering change towards customer focus.
My services range across a continuum from interface at the highest level in developing and advising on strategy, to thinking, speaking and writing (I am frequently published) on marketing, branding and the customer experience and have developed fresh new interventions in this space.
On a more "normal" level I do what you would ordinarily expect from a marketing consultant, and often function as an outsourced marketing director for my clients. I can the deliver a full branding solution from planning to design.
I have found a way to package my offering to the SME sector by operating more as a coach and mentor then a consultant. ie helping you to do the work, that saves on time spent dramatically.
I am also very interested in the dynamics of social networking systems in a business context, I think that very important things are happening in this space.
I like to work with nice, honest people who value my time and pay their bills. I want to have fun doing this stuff.
I love teaching and speaking and deliver programs for business schools. I am also entering the public speaking circuit.

PERSONAL
I am a divorced father of three children to whom I am very committed. I am a cricket coach, soccer coach and long distance runner. I created the Gauteng junior club cricket system. I have played Polo, Polocrosse (provincial), cricket, golf, tennis, squash, hockey, pistol shooting, sailing and rugby.
I do fly fishing for everything from small mountain trout, yellowfish in the Vaal and bass in fresh water to salt water game fish, all on fly. I tie flies and have created a number of successful recipes.
I go to gym (not as often as I would like) I read avidly, love the arts and theatre.
I love helping and supporting people.

B.Com - Majors in Economics and Business Economics
Masters Degree in Business Leadership (MBL) - my thesis was on The International Competitive Status of the South African Automotive Industry
BACKGROUND
I went to school in Grahamstown, St Andrews's College and university in Pietermaritzburg before I went to the SADF where I got myself seconded to the Ciskeian Government and lectured in an agricultural college.
After farming for a few years I joined the Ford Motor Company in PE and held a number of positions in quick succession including that of District Manager, I finished there as National Advertising Manager and joined Y&R an advertising agency, I was headhunted by Nissan as their National Advertising Manager across all products and dealer.
Then after a stint with Ad Agency of the year "The White House" as Client Services and Strat Planning Director, I got involved in exhibition organising for a while as GM in the Montgomery Group before I decided to go on my own.
