Peter Thiel is an American entrepreneur, hedge fund manager and venture capitalist. Thiel co-founded PayPal and worked as its CEO before selling it to eBay for $1.5 billion in 2002. He founded and currently serves as president of Clarium Capital Management LLC, a global macro hedge fund, and is a managing partner in The Founder's Fund, adventure capital fund with $275 million under management. He was an early investor in Facebook, the popular social-networking site, and sits on the company's Board of Directors.Thiel is also an adviser to the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence, and a self-described libertarian.
