I live in the Northern Territory of Australia, in a place called Humpty Doo.  I've worked in the military for a while, but now I keep myself occupied interpreting laws and coming up with last minute solutions to impossible problems.

I have a small 5 acre property, 3 horses, 4 cats and a dog.  I live with my wife and 3yr old daughter.

Prohibition has been shown to be inneffective at controlling just about everything.  Are restrictions therefore the answer?

Imagine being in a place where it is against the law to consume alcohol in public places, where, if caught consuming alcohol you would be arrested, alcohol tipped out or siezed and fines imposed.  Where peoples homes can be declared alcohol free areas, where even the occupant is not allowed to consume alcohol at home.  Or even where whole communities are forcibly declared alcohol free and peoples houses are considered public areas for law enforcement to enter and search for alcohol.  Pubs and clubs being restricted to closing at midnight, no matter what night of the week.

The question, when something has been identified as a problem in the community, is it right fot the government to impose restrictions on the community to try and curb anti-social behaviour, assaults and other crime associated with the problem?
