Question: Is there a global style?
Thom Browne: Yeah. The world . . . I think the world has become a really small place because it is. I mean you can see everything about anyone. The Internet has kind of really brought the whole world into . . . into everyone’s living room. So I think it is. It’s very universal. Everything has become very small.
Question: Will we see a resurgence of local styles?
Thom Browne: I don’t know. I think we’ve . . . I think we’ve passed the point of like returning, so . . . No. I think it’ll . . . I think it’ll always be accessible to everyone in regard to this . . . you know, the style of . . . I think in a way there will always be . . . I think the memories of that true American style that was, for me, that ‘50s and ‘60s sack suit from Brooks Brothers. I mean that was a true American style. But in a way there’s a lot of people that have adopted that right now. And it’s the same thing with designers here in America – you know the European influences. I think we’ve gone past the point of like . . . Unless you really pull back and wanna do it, I think the world has become very universal in that way.

I love the Dictionary because the answer to many questions exist within the definition of the words themselves.
The only problem with Globalization is that it is imbalanced and not in natural proportions. Like music – if we play one note and hold it…. it sounds like NOISE, but if we play many notes in natural proportions then we create HARMONY and therefore MUSIC.
The answer to having a more efficient and blanced Globalization is within Nature (please also research the Golden Ratio / Golden Mean).

Browne didn't really answer the question, did he? Globalisation has changed fashion when European designers launched their designs then copied and mass produced in China or Vietnam. Costs are lowered and exported everywhere so there is no distinct style anymore. Fashion icons are dime a dozen as their style are created by the same few stylists.

What annoys me about fashion in just in the last 20 years, is that the quality of fabrics has gotten thinner and garmets do not last nearly as long as they used to. I do not care for the fashions that are androgenous. I do not care for the Euro-hooker style with my breasts and belly button in full view. I prefer retro fashions when women looked like women and dressed like ladies without all the bling-bling.
