Are We Nearing the "End Times"?

Every so often, a group of people feel that humanity is close to the so-called "end times". Sometimes it's because of the year (i.e., 666, 1000, 1666, 2000) or other reasons proposed, for example, by various American Christian Sects in the 19th Century.
