I have to agree with Amanda.  The convenience when you need it is fantastic.  However, the downside to that is that, at times, it's hard to pull away and "disconnect" when necessary.  Self-discipline is truly necessary when it comes to today's technology and gadgetry.

Staci Collier commented on Layoffs Can Carry Stiff Hidden Costs, So Consider the Alternatives on June 22, 2009, 1:02 PM

The overall health of the business is what's most important here. And when you layoff employees, especially good ones, you're really taking a chance at making the business suffer. The other thing is, if you truly expect to have them return when things turn around, that may not happen. The employee may find employment elsewhere and the company is now going to suffer the loss permanently. I think it's always best to explore ALL other cost cutting techniques first and leave layoffs as a last resort.
