I think you need a better description. Ethnic cleansing refers to deportations, forced emigration, mass killing and genocide. I think you're comment is insulting not just to French Canadians, but to the populations who have experienced real ethnic cleansing. Think of what was done to the First Nations of North America or to the Acadians - those are real Canadian ethnic cleansing. As for the situation of English Canadians in Qu

I don't think we did it ourselves. Of course, as Donny says, it only takes a few extremists to cast a bad light on a group - but every group has its own extremists. I think feminism gets so much resistance because it fights the most ancient and widespread form of discrimination and by doing so threatens the very foundations of society as we know it, as well as a big part of our own identity. I think people are just scared of changes, even if it is for the better. Don't be afraid to say you're a feminist. Define normal. Is abnormal any form or medical technology? If so, you and I would probably be dead by now. I think vaccines are victims of their own success. People do not remember what it was like before them. The tragic children deaths and epidemics. If you can afford not to vaccine your child and s/he's not getting sick, it's not because vaccines are useless. It's because most of the other children and adults have been immunized, so they don't get sick and can't infect your unprotected child. If everyone would stop getting vaccines, it would be catastrophic.

Montreal. It is one of the less sexist societies I know of. I think only the Scandinavians are more egalitarian than the French Canadians in their attitudes and politics.I also appreciate our modern stance on religion. French-Canadians have rejected en masse the Catholic Church in the sixties and have remained very suspicious of organized religions, though this is somehow less true with the younger generation.
