I think Jennifer Jones is correct about where the thoughts of the Dawkins should be placed; but think of all the internecine bollocks that'd be written by those who absurdly claim to be certain after the fashion of the Voltaire quote above. His books are on my shelf, are regularly referred to and I'm immensely grateful that the man has articulated the disquiet felt by many unhappy with the popular hiatus in the quest for reason.

There is a huge movement resisting darwinian evolution, particulary in the US, is this an expression of arrogance on the part of the deniers? As Daniel says people seem to interpret genetics and evolution as being far too simple a way of explaining their complexity, most of which however is socially reinforced, is it as simple as getting over ourselves or are there other factors at work here?

The media talked it down Guggi? More like greedy bastards and cute culchie whores talked the whole thing up in the first place. The reason it came down so quick is that it was a house of cards, you can't get security from debt secured on talk.
