Great Ideas!  I am a primary care physician.  It seems that much of “Primary care” is now being done by NP and PA mid level providers.  Is this a healthy approach?  How do small communities afford the divisiion of primary care between several specialties such as Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, OB etc.  It seems there is no longer a place for the Traditional Family Physician.  After what you are saying that is too bad.

The concept of going back to the traditional Primary Care Physician is good.  I’m not convinced though that the Obama plan is promising this.  I think that this is a round about way to sugar coat to the everyone to go to their PCP instead of  to specialists.  And your talk goes even farther than that.  It promotes that  people should be taught home care – which to me, seems to be already promoting non-utilization in a way that won’t work.  As long as care is almost free people, will be frequenting the doctor’s office – and Obama touts “almost free” care.
