Simply put, as just one of many early attempts by uneducated cultures to explain the unexplainable around them (and, in many cases, to exert undue control over their peers) prior to the discover of the vastly superior scientific method.

Hey Rick, Glad you stopped by. You have made quiet a few wildly comparisons. So, I guess it is my turn. The Bible was written about 2000 years ago? Let us fast forward 2000 years to the year 4009 AD. If folks started talking about this Potter religion with this famous Harry Pottor Jesus like charector, we should believe in this magic broom because it was the written word. Although we have never seen the magic broom do anything in person, Harry Potter said so. Harry Potter is real, because it is the written word. No, it is not the same. Nor are your comparisons the same. You are my most respected pastor of today because you don’t try to feed people a bunch mumbo jumbo. You tell people what to look for and let them decide for themselves. Why the mumbo jumbo comparisons? You don’t need that. You know how the Bible was written. Why don’t you say it like it is? What you believe is what you feel. There is nothing more. Evangelist are always trying to stick up for the Good Book and they know darn well how it was written and what it is made up of. Just say hey, a bunch of people wrote these things in this book and millions of folks thought they were strong enough lessons to be learned that they carried it around for 2000 years. Now you figure out for youself why these stories may have been so important to move that far into the future and never stop believing in what you feel. Oh, maybe you better not tell them that. You wouln’t have a job. Go git-em Rick You Rock!
