Courage

Courage. What does one think of when they hear this word? To some it is going above and beyond the call of duty for an important cause. To others it is facing one's fears and overcoming them. To me courage involves three characteristics: Faith, Strength, and Self-Sacrifice. Having faith means that one can overcome what they are facing if they believe in their beliefs. In order to have strength one needs to have faith because it is faith that gives someone their true inner strength. Then finally, self-sacrifice. Having this means that you are willing to go to great lengths in facing what needs to be overcome not only for yourself but for others. If any one of these in lacking, then a person does not have courage. To me, this says a lot. I think that Field Marshall Manstein sums it up fairly well when he said "strength in character and inner fortitude are decisive factors." To overcome the hardships in life takes a lot of courage. If you have a lot of courage, that says a lot about who you are. … Read More

Contentment

Within the past few months I've come to realize what it's like to be truly content with what I have in this world. I have no need for the latest technology or gadgets. I have no desire to have a high paying job. I have enough good close friends. Most importantly I have Christ. I couldn't ask for anything more. He is all I need. He is in control of everything. I'd rather have Him in control of my life than me. I'm not saying I can't take of myself. All I'm saying is that life with Him is so much better. Without Him it's terrible. Since I've opened up to Him my life has gotten so much better. I hope that it is the same way for you. If not, then I encourage you to invite Him into your life. He can make it better if you willingly let Him. He was with me in my life's hardships. He can be with you in yours too. … Read More

Purity

This is the first time I've ever talked about this topic. Recently I've finished reading a book titled Eyes Wide Open by Brienne Murk. After reading it, I loved the book. It explains how we should live our lives out through emotional and sexual purity. This book has changed my life. It's the first book I've read where it addresses the issues I struggle with. It has shown me what I need to do and not do for practicing purity and how to seek God when it comes to struggles with purity. My life has gotten much better after reading this book. My love for Christ has grown immensely too. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to living a life of purity. God wants to heal us from the inside out. Never give up seeking after Him. … Read More

What does the future hold?

What does the future hold? I ask myself this question quite often. Even more so with today's economic crisis. I think about all my family, friends, and their families and how their lives have been affected by today's economy. Many are out of work. Some recently lost their jobs, others have been about of a job for almost a year, and some are going to lose their jobs. We all have one thing in common. Where do we get another job? I wish I had an answer but I don't. I can only hope that our president will up to task of getting us out of this mess. If not, then we're in for a rough ride. He said the new stimulus plan would help. Help? How? We need paying jobs not money. How can we make a living on just checks alone? We can't. Something needs to be done. And we can't just sit around and talk about it either. … Read More

All I can ask is how can a person be an atheist? In my experience it's impossible. In this video Ezekiel Emanuel says he's a practicing atheist but he goes to Synagogue every week and takes it seriously. That doesn't make sense. If you're doing that doesn't that mean you believe in God? Or at least acknowledge his presence? Because the way I understand it. The only way a person can be a true atheist is by living a life that does not acknowledge and presence of God or the fact that He exists. Someone can to clarify some things here? No faith but lots of religion? Doesn't that say something right there? If I'm not mistaken, in Judaism one is called to worship God and obey what He commands. Isn't that by it's simplest definition faith? If not then I would love to know what it is. Any insight to this would be very helpful.
