Re: Is it the President's job to solve moral issues?

I think that we have consistently seen instances throughout the history of the country of the government imposing their moral agenda upon us.  I think this is certainly true of gay marriage, and I think it is also true of drug laws and arguably some of our conflicts with the middle east.  In my opinion, the role of the government should be to see to it that each individual has the right to live out his or her own life as he or she sees fit insofar as doing so does not directly prevent others from having this freedom.  However, when a government tries to tell you who you can and can't love and what you have the right to do with your own body, I can't help but wonder what they think is meant by the phrase "Land of the Free."
