What would happen if there was a total economic collapse in the United States?

What would happen if all our banks failed again and the government became increasingly more fascist and started taking everyone's houses, paid for or not? Hitler did this to fund his genocide. If John McCain were appointed as president, would he model after Grorge W. Bush and Adolph Hitler and abuse his authoirty too and make he and a few "elite" others a fast buck???
