Senator, you are one of the most powerful people in the world.  Who don't you and the rest of the senate use that power to actually solve something?  Levy the tax to actually buy alternate energy generators.  Mandate the Army Corps of Engineers to erect alternate energy generators around the country.  Post a million dollar prize for a 100 mpg automobile propulsion system that will retrofit into existing cars.

$50,000,000,000 will buy a lot more wind turbines than it will buy nuclear power plants. It will also provide the volume of orders to drive the price down so the savings can be used to provide the volume of orders to make photo voltaic roof shingles affordable

My God, Senator!  you have the power and the constitution mandate to do that.  Stop with these nebulous, fuzzy, transparent attempts to protect wealth and start protecting the future of everyone in this wonderful country

For every problem you mentioned, I believe 100% opposite. So I guess we are lucky government does not work. I think the Constitution is very clear the powers granted and not granted. We the people have let elected officials get so far away from limited government, we look to them as parents or worse yet gods. Government by design works slow, inefficient, and more by force, than example. If you are a hot topic industry, health care, war, ect. you get lots of attention. Each member of Congress has their own little empire to build. Good luck on your roof shingles.

Jiggy7 has it right on general philosophy but wrong on this one. The government is already intervening w big bucks. Its just going to the wrong special interests like nukes and corn growers instead of priming the pump on wind and solar.

Pragmatically decentralize power the most you can both in government and in energy generation IMO

Do we applaud a tiny step in the right direction, or do we condemn it as being too tiny?

We refuse to believe that global warming is real, yet NASA measures its effects day by day.

Global Warming , Peak oil, pollution, foreign debt; different problems but many of the answers are the same. As a society we are driving towards a cliff in the dark with the headlights off.

Don’t waste your time asking a republican to do the right thing for the majority. Rich folks do not even get it. If profit isn’t an obvious outcome for their special interest
pork barrel loving buddies, they won’t lift a finger to help the environment. They have been brainwashed by their own to have no faith in science and common sense. Only each other. We are all lost. Might as well start the revolution. Wrest the power back from the greedy jerks and make the changes ourselves for the good of the many. The wealthy few have had it too good for far too long anyway. Screw them. They are all hell-bound if you believe in Biblical justice. Soulless, vile creatures, all.
Payback is going to be hell on everyone.
Thank the rich when it happens…..
