Sunday’s Big Idea
Functional Medicine
What's the secret to good health? It's no longer a secret, and it's actually fairly simple, even as good health is something that is very hard to achieve in our society today.
According to Dr. H. Robert Silverstein, the idea is to "make the individual self-reliant so that don't need medical care." That is to say, preventive medicine can give people the opportunity to avoid expensive care, undergo invasive surgeries, and take expensive medications with side effects.
How is this accomplished? Reduce your body fat. Eat organic foods. You need to keep a positive attitude. Do not smoke. And exercise adequately.
Dr. Mark Hyman pushes this one step further in arguing that we need to create health, not simply aim to prevent diseases. But to do this he says you have to go cold turkey.
