Big Ideas for 2013: Disruptive Technology
Did humanity move forward, take a step back, or simply tread water in 2012? At Big Think, we believe that progress is made through the advancement of big ideas. So what exactly does that mean? First of all, did the best ideas actually rise to the surface in 2012 or were they drowned out by all of the noise caused by our overconsumption of information? (That question, in and of itself, is encapsulated by a big idea). Second, of all the ideas that made it to the marketplace, which ones were acted upon, or stand the best chance to be acted upon?
Today we are looking at 20 big ideas, or key trends to watch in technology, courtesy of Daniel Burrus. To stay competitive, Burrus says, your organization needs to anticipate the most significant technology trends that are shaping your business and then develop innovative ways to use them to your advantage, both inside and outside of your organization. He writes: "Remember, if it can be done, it will be done. If you don’t use these technologies to create a competitive advantage, someone else will."
